Recent Practise Music signee Maripool has released her first single on the label: ‘Softly’. It’s a track that crafts a sense of vulnerability and optimism simultaneously, with her soft, dreamy voice resting on a pillowy accompaniment filled with bending guitars and pulsing rhythm. Despite being inspired by shoegaze and 2010s guitar-pop, Maripool crafts something quite anthemic and euphoric in the track’s memorable chorus. “This song was written as a form of exorcism,” she explains. “There’s an evil inside of me that needs to come out but in the end I decide to keep it.” Check out the accompanying music video, which matches this message perfectly. -Dan Peeke
